Shivaree (1965 - 1966)

Noel appeared twice on the ABC music show, Shivaree, which was hosted by DJ Gene Weed.

His first appearance was on November 20, 1965 and the second was on January 29, 1966.

Neither of the episodes have been officially re-released, but they are widely available on bootleg DVDs.

The Future Mrs Awkins

Noel first appeared on Shivaree on November 20, 1965 when his single, A Young Girl, was doing well in the American charts.

But instead of singing the song on the show, he performed the B-side, The Future Mrs Awkins.

The song dates from 1899, when it was written by music hall performer Albert Chevalier. It was also covered by Herman's Hermits for their 1966 album, Both Sides of Herman's Hermits.

Barbara Allen

For his second song on the November 20, 1965 edition of Shivaree, Noel sang his version of the folk song, Barbara Allen, which had been released as a single in May that year. The song was later included on the compilation The World of Noel Harrison.

Other guests on the show that day included Gerry and the Pacemakers.

One Too Many Mornings

On his return to Shivaree on January 29, 1966 Noel performed The Future Mrs Awkins again, as well as his version of the Bob Dylan classic, One Too Many Mornings.

He had recorded the song as the b-side to his 1965 single Barbara Allen.

Both the One Too Many Mornings and Barbara Allen videos are unusual because they show Noel playing electric guitar. In the majority of his television appearances, he either does not play guitar or plays an acoustic.
