The Hollywood Palace (1967)

During two appearances on the American variety show, The Hollywood Palace, Noel Harrison appeared alongside British singer Petula Clark, actress Lynn Redgrave and singer Ethel Merman.

He performed a number of songs on the show, including Suzanne and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds

Noel's version of the Beatles song, Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, was taken from his second studio album, Collage.

This video is the only surviving footage of Noel singing his hit song, Suzanne.

It is taken from the December 5, 1967 edition of The Hollywood Palace.

Other guests on the programme included Jimmy Durante, Ethel Merman and the Lennon Sisters.

Noel took the song to number 56 in the American charts in 1967, becoming the first person to enter the charts with a Leonard Cohen song. It stayed in the charts for six weeks.

The Rain in Spain

Immediately after singing Suzanne, Noel was joined on stage by Jimmy Durante and Ethel Merman to sing a version of The Rain in Spain.

The song is taken from the film, My Fair Lady, which starred Noel's father, Rex Harrison.
